There was transparency in written exam, but what about oral exam, no transparency what ever the examiner got on their mind they ask, and on basis of single question how eligibility for first class certificate can be decided, may negative marking bring out meritorious student to front line, but again at time of oral luck factor come front, there is lot of changes required to improve the cbt for written and in oral also.

Dear sir,
It is very good step initiated by DGMS. Negative marking is good suggestion also, but the managerial capability checking in objective type questions will be real task for examiner who are setting paper and subseuently checking it..

Dear sirI agree with you regarding examination pattern. The negative marking should be implemented in this CBT exam. The selection of first class manager will be more transparent with this negative marking. In this process those candidates will be selected who really intelligent and having knowledge of Mines regulation and they also implement the same after selection in their mine.RegardsPradeep kumarManager (Mining)On 09-Aug-2016 1:25:30 pm, mining_engineer@yahoo.com [dgms_mail_list] wrote:We should congratulate and appreciate our DGMS officials for the great initiative taken by them by implementing computer based test (CBT) for maintaining transparency in system for Mines Manager's Examinations.I altogether acknowledge beyond any doubt that there will be pros and cons in any system, but there are few concerns in this new take-up (CBT) due to this the main objective will be a deficient.Initially it was imagined as the standards of this examination would be similar to GATE, CAT and etc., but our CBT examination does not include negative marking, more over with this type of system the candidates are encouraged to submit the answers blindly without any preparation and allows to win the race based on their fate. In this way obtaining 50% i.e., 40 marks in written will be an easier task and most of the candidates are getting ready to manage examiners for Orals in other ways. Ultimately most of the candidates who are not meritorious are leading the race. Already our mining industry is suffering with incompetent Managers and being lack in implementation of legislation in the Mine field.Hence I request members in this forum to discuss thier views about this CBT exam and to present opinions for better filtration of eligible and genuine candidates to award the Manager's certificate to the deserved candidates. Actually in 2011, before implementation itself DGMS have given us chance to respond about the proposal of CBT exam by inviting our suggestions. But we have neglected the same at that time.Regards,V.
