We are happy to inform you that Department of Environmental Science & Engineering (Centre of Mining Environment) Indian School of Mines Dhanbad is organizing a Training Program on 'Environmental Aspect of Mining Industry' during September 3-5, 2015 at ISM Kolkata Centre. The ISM, Kolkata Centre is a newly acquired facility for training, due to its locational advantages for the participants and resource persons, being well connected by Air and Rail.
The mining industry is characterized by a large number of big and small operational mines. By carefully pre-planning of projects, implementing pollution control measures, monitoring the impacts of mining, reclaiming and rehabilitating mined out areas, the industry will be able to minimize the harmful effects of its activities on the neighbouring community, the immediate environment and on long-term land capability. With increase in production, the industry is facing stringent environmental regulations. This training will enable the participants to learn and manage the Environmental Issues in an effective way through concepts provided in the following modules.
Course Content:
- Environmental Benign Mine Planning and Mine Closure
- Environmental Legislation, EIA/EMPs, Risk Assessment
- Biodiversity, Forestry Issues of Mining
- Air, Noise, Soil, Water Pollution and Control Measures
- Land Degradation and Remediation in Mines
- Occupational Health and Safety, OHSAS -18001
- Environmental Audits, ISO 14001 applications
- Sustainable Mining Practices, CSR
This training programme will benefit officials engaged in mining and non -mining operations, maintenance, planning, environmental management, scientists, academicians, regulatory authorities, HR, finance and interested persons.
