Subject: Re: DGMS Mailing List: Issues relating to online examination ofFirst Class Manager under MMR 1961

Respected group members,

Computer Based Test for First class and Second class managers exam is tremendous change in the Board of Mining Examinations, but in my opinion by this system...
1.Can not justify the drafting capacity of the Manager's candidate
2.Some of the candidates may qualify by the luck, As by these examinations B.M.E is issuing competency certificates
    its not a competitive exam.
3.As i know no  online exam is with 50% of Minus marks....
4.Especially candidates those who attended for Winning and working exam this year are previously got Orals 2-3 times, are also not even qualified. Can we think these are not up-to mark? and does not have knowledge...
5.One of the candidate claimed that his answers are jumped after selecting...

Coal mining people are lucky as they got First chance on CBT without minus marks... But Metal people suffered with minus marks with introduction CBT... I am requesting all the mining people to discuss on this... to request to minimize the minus marks to 25% and total questions to be fixed for 80.

With due respect to examiners Such things happen when more incorrect options are not thought of.Such incorrect answers will also need to be close to correct one. Unless the examiner is very sure this becomes difficult. In this case he cannot consult any one.
Earlier i was conducting quiz competition for seniors during safety week at Hospet. To prepare just 30 questions with such mode was quite tough
So what i feel is that a team should prepare say about 300 questions go through with fine toothed comb and give to examiners to select any sixty of fifty as the case may be.

The sequences can be jumbled up . Every year another 100 questions can be added and obsolte if any withdrawn

Dear Sir,

I appreciate the commendable effort made by DGMS for organizing the Managers' Exam 2016 through online. As my point of view, the Sifytest, agency who conducted this online test, was not fully prepared at all. In many questions, it was seen that jumbling of multiple choices (Five Choices) have been proved fatal for many participants. However, i don't have those questions with me, but i want to show some horrible mistakes...like
1. Many questions have first choice as " All the above" and "None of the above"
2. Some questions have second choice as " Both (1) and (2)"..
3. Some questions have second/third choice as " All three above"...

These are the mistakes which were created just because of jumbling of choices. The Sifytest should be well prepared for " which questions are applicable for such jumbling of choices" before conducting such prestigious examination.

My request to my seniors is that my feedback should be acknowledged to the DGMS officials, so that those participants who faced such problems can be benefited and their candidatures can be considered for Oral.

Regards
