Yes, The drilling of small diameter holes in between large diameter holes restrict the boulder formation to a large extent due to the following reasons: - 
  • When the patch is drilled by 260mm drill  ensure that the burden and spacing is 6 to 7 mtrs.
  • In the intervening space bring a Diesel drill of 160mm dia and drill holes of 5m depth in between the large dia holes.
  • Generally during charging of large dia holes we hardly do deck charging, as a result the explosive energy is not sufficient to break the upper layer.

Is it possible to conduct Deep hole blasting in conjunction with short holes. Mean to say that, other than drilling PILOT holes in front row, what should we do to avoid generation of big size boulders ?
